STAINLESS STEEL

What are the properties of

stainless steel?

We make our furniture using 316 “marine

grade” stainless steel, which will best

withstand the rigours of an outdoor

environment. We have added selected

products to our Mercury and Equinox

ranges that feature an attractive powder-

coat finish on the 316 stainless steel to

give the ultimate protection in the

harshest marine environment.

How can stainless steel furniture be

maintained?

You should undertake regular maintenance

using our care product to preserve the

fine appearance of your furniture.

Cleaning once or twice a year will be

adequate in most circumstances but we

recommend a more frequent cleaning

regime to in harsh environments,

including a salt or chlorine concentration

found in coastal areas or around a

swimming pool. Stainless steel furniture

used in a chlorinated indoor environment

will require frequent cleaning and we

therefore recommend that you use our

powder coated products.

We recommend that you regularly rinse

your furniture with fresh water to remove

condensed chlorinated moisture.

Conventional abrasive cleaners or strong

acidic cleaners should never be used on

stainless steel as this can damage the

finish. We recommend using Barlow Tyrie

Stainless Steel Clean & Guard to care for

and maintain your stainless steel furniture.

If you have any questions or concerns

about how the 316-grade stainless stell is

affected or best suited for your area or

pool environment, please contact our

Customer Services.

• Stainless Steel Clean and Guard

(4SSCG) - All stainless steel is

susceptible to brown surface marks,

which are cosmetic and do not damage

the product. Remove these marks by

regular cleaning with this care product,

which leaves a fine layer of Teflon® to

help prevent their appearance. Supplied

with its own special applicator pad.

ALUMINIUM

What are the properties

of aluminium?

Aluminium is a strong yet light material

that does not corrode or rust, which makes

it ideal for outdoor furniture that is easy

to move. The aluminium we use is ‘virgin

aluminium’, meaning it is not reclaimed

from scrap and is more robust and

longer-lasting. We pre-wash, etch prime

and electrostatically powder-coat our

aluminium furniture for optimum even

cover before oven baking to fix the finish.

This process prevents oxidation and gives

attractive, hard-wearing surface and the

possibility of various colour themes.

How can aluminium furniture

be maintained?

We recommend the following Barlow

Tyrie product to care for and maintain

your aluminium furniture.

• Powder Coated Stainless Steel &

Aluminium Cleaner (4AC) – easily

removes dirt, grease, oil, pollutants,

and mould.

FITTINGS & ACCESSORIES

Will the metal fittings on my

furniture last as long as the teak?

We only use the best marine quality solid

brass and stainless steel on our furniture.

With due care and attention, these

should last as long as the teak.

Do I need to use a base to locate a

parasol through a dining table?

Yes, all parasols must be located in the

recommended parasol base for safety.

We supply our standard parasol base

for using a parasol through a dining

table, or a free-standing base is available

for use without a table. Parasol plates

are available for use with the Equinox

and Bermuda pedestal tables.

Can we use any of your dining

chairs with any of your standard-

height tables?

Most of our dining chairs fit comfortably

under most of our standard-height dining

tables. However, there are exceptions, so

if you wish to ‘mix and match’, please

check the item specifications on our

website or discuss your requirements

with your stockist.

PLANNER TOOL

What help can you offer with

planning my furniture layout?

Users can define the shape and dimensions

of their outside area and then experiment

with the selection and arrangement of

furniture, choosing from available colour

and fabric options. Designs can be

viewed as two-dimensional plans or

three-dimensional renderings with the

ability to use a photograph of the user’s
